Intermediate Flamenco:
For students who have completed at least six months up to two years of Advanced Beginner classes, and feel comfortable with all the material covered in that level. Dancers should be be able to dance fluidly with proper rhythm, posture and technique, and be prepared for the faster pace of the Intermediate level. Intermediate dancers may be invited to perform at various times throughout the year.
Monday Intermediate Technique & Choreography, 8 classes starting June 16, 7:35-8:35pm: Students in this class work on increasing strength, speed and musicality in footwork, balance and control in turns and marcajes, and expression through the upper body. We will work on a choreography for Tientos y Tangos with live music in order to learn the rhythm, musicality, and style of the palo. This class is available in-person or online via Zoom. Students will have access to a video recording of each class for practice and may attend any suitable lower-level class as a make-up in case of absence, or another class with instructor permission.

Intro-Castanets Mini-Class, 8 Mondays starting June 16, 7pm-7:30pm. This is a 30-minute class designed to introduce Intermediate-level students to the art of playing Castanets while dancing! The short class includes warm-up, exercises to improve dexterity, timing, and coordination, and short dance patterns like marcajes or llamadas with castanets. Wednesday Intermediate Flamenco INTRO TO MANTON, 8 classes starting JUNE 11, 7:35-8:35pm: Learn a new flamenco skill–how to dance with the Manton de Manila! *Students must have their own manton or make a reservation to rent one for $8/class! *Space in this class is limited! Dancers of Intermediate skill level and above will learn to manipulate the Manton de Manila as part of their flamenco dance. We will focus on mastering manton technique and style, and also learn a short choreography. There is no make-up option for this class, so students should take advantage of our class videos if they need to miss a class. This class is available in-person or online via Zoom. Students will have access to a video recording of each class for practice.

Advanced Flamenco
Advanced-level dancers should have at least 4 years of recent flamenco dance training, and should dominate most aspects of flamenco technique, including strong footwork and compas, speed, coordination, and balance. These skills will continue to be developed throughout the course. Advanced dancers may be invited to perform at various times throughout the year. There are two class options for Advanced Level students: both the Tuesday and Thursday classes combine technique plus an ongoing choreography. The classes may be taken individually or together for faster progress, a more immersive experience and a discounted class rate!
Advanced Castanets Mini-Class, 8 Tuesdays starting June 10, 7pm-7:30pm. This is a 30-minute class designed for Advanced-level students to continue practicing and perfecting their Castanet skills. The short class includes warm-up, exercises to improve dexterity, timing, and coordination, and potentially a short choreography. Tuesday Advanced Technique and Choreography: 8 Tuesdays starting June 10, 7:35-8:35 Advanced dancers will study technique with an emphasis on increasing speed, dexterity, and musicality, will practice listening and responding to live or recorded music, and will practice improvisational skills. We will also learn a short choreography suitable for performance. This class is available in-person or online via Zoom. Students will receive a video recording of each class for practice.
